The "Pom" as it is called by the members of the Vintage
Sports Car Club is the only event in the club's calendar that
members can enter with a modern car.
The event was originally conceived by Lawrence Pomeroy jnr.
and is based on a complicated formula which takes into account
such factors as the luggage accommodation and whether a car
has four wheel brakes. It is only open to cars with an engine
capacity of 1.5-litres or more.
It was popularly believed amongst club members that the formula
was heavily biased towards 30-98 Vauxhalls which were designed
by Pomeroy senior. Recently more modern cars have tended win.
The winner of the very first "Pom" was Peter Binns
in a Vauxhall 30-98.
