Following last years successful show this even better. There were many more stalls particularly in the autojumble halls. It was at least twice the size of the Paris Retromobile and must now be well established as the premier show for the historic motorist and collector.

This was our first trip to Retromobile which is surprising since it has been going for 30 years. It has now graduated to the Parc des Expositions near the Porte de Versailles. We stayed at the Mercure Hotel directly opposite which was very convenient and interesting because it was built on the site of the old Gordini car factory. There were historic motoring pictures on display throughout the hotel.
This show has become a favourite meeting point for motoring enthusiasts from all over the world. It is very French. This year the layout was much better and the isles between the stalls were much wider.
Kissimmee Cruise - November 2004

On a recent visit to Florida your itinerant reporter stumbled across the Kissimmee Cruise and was amazed by the popularity and extent of these events. Old Town Kissimmee hosts two Cruise meetings every week of the year. Friday nights are for post 1972 cars and Saturday nights are for pre 1973 cars. The support for these events is quite staggering with over 300 cars at each meeting. Judging from the number of similar events listed in Mike Kelly's magazine Cruise News which covers most of Florida there are meetings every day of the week. Believe it or not there are 89 Florida venues listed for Saturdays alone.
MODIFIED CAR SHOWS

The growing interest in modified cars is becoming something of a national craze. This weekend, the 27th - 28th November, there is a two day show devoted to this market at the attractive ExCel exhibition centre in London's Docklands. As it happens we covered a show in the summer and it is presented here as a foretaste of what to expect. There is no doubt that with the increasing similarity of modern cars many owners wish to stand out from the crowd by customising their cars. There is a whole industry devoted to supplying this opportunity.
